The Welcome Reception will take place on the evening of Monday August 24th, in the palace of the Rectorate of the University of Turin. Drinks and a light buffet will be served.

This event is included in the registration fees of participants, students and accompanying persons.


Turin orientation tour

Half-day guided walking tour of Turin. The tour will give you a general impression of the city of Turin, its historical and modern quarters, and its cultural and social aspects. You will discover the history of the first Italian Capital, a noble and elegant city.
You will visit the large, beautiful and harmonious squares like San Carlo Square, the famous avenues lined with trees, the large and elegant streets, the magnificent Baroque Palaces and Churches like Palazzo Carignano and the Church of San Lorenzo.
The tour is included in the accompanying persons fee.
Accompanying persons are automatically registered for the guided tour.

Option 2: Turin orientation tour and the Egyptian Museum, 14.30 - 18.30 ca
The tour will give you a general impression of the city of Turin, its historical and modern quarters, and its cultural and social aspects. You will discover the history of the first Italian capital city, a noble and elegant city.
Stop at the best leading attraction of Turin, the Egyptian Museum, the most important in the world after the one in Cairo, for a guided tour of the spectacular collection: more than 30,000 items narrating 5000 years of history through art, religion and daily life in the time of the great pharaons. Furthermore, thanks to an interior design project by the art-director Dante Ferretti (winner of the 2005 Oscar prize for his work on "The Aviator”), the statues are now displayed in a new light after 150 years of exhibition. The museum is located inside the Accademia delle Scienze, one of Italy's most elegant baroque buildings.

Option 4: The Royal Palace of Venaria Reale, 14.30 - 18.30 ca

Guided tour to the imposing Baroque Royal Palace, one of the most important residences of the Savoy family at the countryside, declared a “World Heritage” site by Unesco. Experience one of the most significant examples of the magnificence of architecture and art in the 17th and 18th centuries built by famous architects such as Castellamonte, Garove, Juvarra, and walk into its vast and beautiful gardens.

Option 5: Savour the flavour of Barolo, 14.30 - 00.30 ca
A tour to Alba, the capital of white truffles, and Langhe, the famous Barolo and Barbaresco wine region, visiting Marchesi di Barolo cellar with wine tasting and dining in a typical “Trattoria” in La Morra (to taste the great Piedmont cuisine like for example raw meat, agnolotti, brasato al barolo, nut-cake) while sipping the greatest Piedmont wines. Alba is about one and a half hour drive from Turin.

Option 6: Mont-Blanc discovery, 14.30 - 22.30 ca
FULLY BOOKED!

An unforgettable experience in the Alps, discovering the Mont-Blanc, to admire all the most beautiful summits above 4000 metres. A tour by cable car from Courmayeur takes you to La Palud, to reach Punta Helbronner (3462 m) and its fantastic Terrace on the Glaciers, where the view on Mont Blanc (4807 m) and the Giant’s tooth is breathtaking, having on the horizon the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso.
(For this excursion we suggest to wear an appropriate windcheater, because the summit of Mont-Blanc is at an height of 3462 m).
Dinner in typical Trattoria in Valle d’Aosta on the way back home. The Mont Blanc chain is about one and a 45 min. drive from Turin.
